Chestnut Crème French Toast

Chestnut Crème French Toast

  • 8 slices (4 servings)

  • 30 minutes

What You'll Need

8 slices challah or brioche bread
2 eggs
2 cups whole milk
3-4 tablespoons heavy cream
1/4 cup Spiced Chestnut Crème
Butter for the pan, plus more to serve
Maple syrup, greek yogurt, and ground cinnamon for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 200 degrees F.
  2. Spread a thin layer (about 1/2 tablespoon) of Spiced Chestnut Crème onto each slice of bread, all the way to the edges. Set aside.
  3. Mix milk, heavy cream, and eggs in a baking dish or another dish wide enough to accommodate the width of your bread slices.
  4. Dip each slice in milk mixture for 3-5 seconds, turning to cover both sides. Do not let the bread soak. Set aside dipped slices on a platter.
  5. In a large cast-iron, nonstick, or stainless steel saucepan or griddle, heat 1 tablespoon of butter over medium-high heat.
  6. When butter is bubbling and sizzling, place two slices of bread in pan. Cook for about 2 minutes, or until golden brown, then flip to the other side. Baste with more butter as needed to prevent sticking. Cook for 2 more minutes.
  7. Transfer to a baking sheet in your preheated oven while cooking remaining slices, or serve immediately. When serving, top with more butter, maple syrup, a scoop of plain greek yogurt, and a sprinkle of ground cinnamon.
